Community Solutions Program (CSP)
What is the Community Solutions Program (CSP)?
The Community Solutions Program (CSP) is a professional leadership development program by IREX, funded by the U.S. Department of State. It brings together community leaders from around the world for a four-month fellowship in the U.S. with a focus on conflict resolution, environmental issues, women’s and gender issues, and transparency/accountability. Fellows work with U.S. host organizations and design community action projects to implement back home.
Who is eligible for the Community Solutions Program (CSP)?
Applicants must:
• Be between 26–39 years old (at the time of application).Be citizens of eligible countries, including Uganda.
• Have at least two years of community development experience.
• Be currently living and working in their home country.
• Be proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Not be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
What does the fellowship/program cover?
CSP is fully funded and covers:
• . J-1 visa support.
• Round-trip travel to and from the U.S.
• Living allowance to cover housing, meals, and incidentals.
• Accident and sickness insurance.
• Customized leadership training and hands-on experience with a U.S. host organization.
What happens after completing the fellowship/program?
After the U.S.-based fellowship, fellows return home to implement a six-month community action project using the skills and knowledge gained. CSP also continues to support alumni through networking, funding opportunities, and collaboration platforms.
Is there an alumni network in Uganda?
Yes! Uganda has an active CSP alumni network that supports new applicants, organizes community projects, and collaborates on national and regional initiatives. Alumni are part of a global CSP network of changemakers.
