Accessibility statement

How we make this website usable for everyone, the accessibility options you can switch on, and how to tell us about a problem.

The U.S. Exchange Alumni Network Uganda (USEA) wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification, voice control, or who find moving content or small text difficult.

How accessible this website is

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The site was built and tested with this in mind:

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to content” link.
  • Pages have a clear heading structure and labelled regions, so screen readers can move around them.
  • Text and buttons meet the WCAG colour-contrast ratios.
  • Photos that carry meaning have text descriptions; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Forms have visible labels, say which fields are required, and explain errors in words.
  • Moving content (the homepage photos and the partner logos) stops automatically if your device is set to reduce motion, and the logo strip has a pause button.
  • The site works when zoomed to 400% and on small phone screens, without scrolling sideways.

Accessibility options on this website

Select the round accessibility button at the bottom left of any page to:

  • make the text larger
  • switch on stronger contrast
  • underline all links
  • use an easier-to-read font
  • add more space between lines, words and letters
  • stop animations and moving photos.

Your choices are remembered on the device you are using. Reset all returns the site to normal.

Known limitations

  • Online payments open Pesapal’s secure checkout, which is run by Pesapal. We cannot change how accessible their payment pages are; if you have difficulty, contact us and we will help you give another way.
  • Some older news stories and photo albums copied from our previous website may have missing or brief photo descriptions. We are adding them as we review the content.
  • Documents and videos shared by partner organisations may not be fully accessible.

Tell us about a problem

If something on this website is hard to use, or you need information in a different format, please tell us. Email info@useaug.com or call +256 784 437 870. We aim to reply within 5 working days.
